- Mousey v1.0, Copyright Theo Foster, 1993

-
- Overview.
- ---------
- Mousey is a simple mouse pointer changer for OS/2** 2.1. With it, you can
- change any of the standard pointers (such as the arrow and clock) to any
- pointer created in the IconEditor which ships with OS/2 2.1.
-
- This unregistered copy of Mousey allows you to change the pointer only
- while Mousey is open. When Mousey is closed, it will reset the pointer to
- the OS/2 defaults. The registered version of Mousey allows you to keep the
- pointer changed without keeping Mousey open. It also doesn't annoy you
- about registering.
-
-
- Registering.
- ------------
- Mousey is not freeware or public domain. It is shareware. This means that
- you may use Mousey for a two week trial period before you decide if you want
- to register (purchase) it or not. If you continue to use the product
- without registering it, you are breaking the law.
-
- When you register Mousey you will receive the following:
-
- * A letter of appreciation.
- * The latest registered version on disk.
- * A copy of my collection of pointers (over 50).
- * Notices of upgrades afterward.
-
- Registered copies of Mousey include the following the extra features:
-
- * Change not just the standard arrow, but also the text pointer
- (I-bar), the wait pointer (clock), the move pointer (arrows in
- all directions), and all of the size pointers.
- * Use custom pointers even when Mousey isn't running.
- * Changes are saved between system reboots.
- * No annoying messages about registering.
-
- Registering Mousey is currently $15 U.S. To register, print a copy of
- the file ORDER.TXT and fill it out. Enclose the required fee in an
- enveloped addressed to me (see below) and wait for your registered copy
- to be delivered (should be two-three weeks).
-
-
- Notes.
- ------
- If I find that there is interest in the program (i.e. many people register),
- I will work on incorporating the following features into Mousey:
-
- * Replace the filename listbox with a collection of icons so you can
- select your pointer by icon instead of filename.
- * Animation support.
- * Custom pointers for each application.
-
- If you have any ideas for additions to Mousey (or for pointers), please
- send them to me. Please see the end of this document for ways to reach me.
-
- All of the pointers that come with Mousey were created by me, the author
- of Mousey. Please feel free to edit them and add some artistic talent to
- them (which I think they currently lack).
-
- When creating your own pointers or editting those that come with Mousey,
- pay special attention to where the hot spot is. This is the point on the
- pointer that OS/2 uses to report the mouse position. On the standard
- arrow, the hot spot is the tip of the arrow (which makes sense). On my
- chicken head (CHICKEN.PTR), it is the tip of the beak. To change the hot
- spot of a pointer in the Icon Editor, select Options->HotSpot from the
- menu or press Alt-K. Click the mouse pointer on the drawing space where
- you want the hot spot, and then reselect Options->HotSpot or press Alt-K.
-
-
- Trouble Shooting.
- -----------------
- Problem: I can't get the mouse cursor to change.
- Answer: Mousey requires OS/2 2.1. Any version before that (including
- beta versions) is unsupported.
-
- Problem: I can't select any of the options on the Pointers menu.
- Answer: To change any of the mouse pointers except for the standard arrow,
- you must register Mousey. Unregistered copies of Mousey disable the other
- menu items.
-
- Problem: Mousey makes the mouse disappear on my XGA system.
- Answer: I have a report about this from one beta user. He stated that
- the mouse cursor could be brought back with rapid mouse movement. However,
- because it only happens on XGA systems, I believe the problem is in the OS/2
- XGA driver. I don't recommend using Mousey on XGA systems because of this
- problem.
